Routt County A 41-year-old woman and her 3-year-old son were not injured in a rollover accident Tuesday evening on Twentymile Road, Clark Kreger of the Routt County Sheriff's Office said.
Kreger said the woman was driving a Ford Expedition that landed on its wheels about 100 yards down an embankment. Kreger said there were a couple of curves in the road leading up to the rollover site, but could not state a specific cause of the accident.
According to Routt County Communication dispatchers, a passerby reported the accident, and the woman initially refused medical treatment. She and her son were eventually transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center.
Emergency responders told dispatchers at 5:25 p.m. that the 3-year-old child was alert, responsive and in "a position of comfort" after the accident. The child was strapped into a child seat in the car's back seat, responders said.
Routt County Sheriff's Office deputies and Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to the scene, and troopers are handling the investigation.
