Hayden The Hayden Public Library announces the seventh Reader of the Week for this year's Summer Reading Program. Andrew Kleckler, 6, has won the honor.
Andrew will be in first grade this fall. His parents are Kevin and Carrie Kleckler. Andrew has a sister named Jenna who is 3, and he will have a baby brother soon who will be named Lewis. He is very happy about having a new brother.
Andrew's friends are "from around the neighborhood" and include Austin, Wyatt, Tyler, Keaton and Fisher. He has lived in Hayden his entire life. The family had a border collie named Kelly and hopes to have another dog next summer. Andrew isn't sure what he wants to be when he grows up, but he has some ideas: "Maybe a pilot, an astronaut or (to) work where my dad works."
Andrew's favorite colors are blue, black and white. His favorite food is "my dad's world-famous pizza!" His favorite movies are "Nacho Chihuahua" and "Miracle Dogs." In his free time, he enjoys playing outside with his sister, swimming lessons in Craig, Vacation Bible School and playing with his friends. His favorite sports are tae kwon do and baseball. His favorite book is "Animalia" by Graeme Base, and his favorite subject in school is writing, but he says he likes most all subjects.
This summer, the family traveled to San Francisco and visited uncle Rob. They also saw the ocean two times, the Bay and Golden Gate bridges, sea lions, elephant seals and Alcatraz. When asked whether he had advice for other kids about reading, he replied, "I could read to other kids who can't read," and "yes, reading is fun!"
Andrew said he felt great when he found out he had won Reader of the Week.
