Steamboat Springs A run down a ski slope has meant a long hike or a long road trip for Steamboat Springs skiers and riders since Steamboat Ski Area closed April 12. As of this Sunday, even the road trip will, for the most part, be ruled out.
Most of the state's ski areas that remain open are set to shut down their lifts Sunday.
Winter Park and Copper Mountain - resorts open to Ultimate Pass holders, who upgraded their Steamboat season pass - close Sunday, along with Silverton, Breckenridge and Vail.
Most of them plan to go out with a bang.
Winter Park will feature the band Slopeside from 12 p.m. to 4 today, then Brethren Fast from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
DJ Mix Master Mike and DJ Z-Trip perform today at Copper Mountain while JD Feighner at 1 p.m., Juno What at 3 p.m., and Sound Tribe Sector 9 at 5 p.m., all will help the mountain end its season Sunday.
Chris Isaak plays today at Vail. O.A.R. plays on Sunday.
Echo Mountain and Loveland follow suit in May, and the last of the state's ski areas to close for the season, as usual, will be Arapahoe Basin.
A-Basin hopes to push the season into June.
