Last day to register for youth baseball in Hayden
Steamboat Springs — The registration deadlines for Little League and American Legion baseball in Hayden are today. Little League is for children ages 8 to 15. Those interested in registering can visit Hayden Town Hall at 178 W. Jefferson Ave.
Friend says Wayne Ranieri recovering from accident
Wayne Ranieri is recovering nicely after a March 19 bicycle accident near Lake Catamount, his friend George Danellis said Monday. Danellis said Ranieri has done very well since a March 25 back surgery, his second operation since the accident.
"He has vigorously begun his recovery; everybody's feeling really good about it," Danellis said. "He's a tough cookie."
Ranieri remains hospitalized at Yampa Valley Medical Center.
Ranieri was struck by a vehicle in the accident on Harrison Trail. The vehicle's driver was cited for careless driving causing bodily injury. Undersheriff Dave Bustos said the motorist was driving on the wrong side of the road and that Ranieri was unable to avoid the head-on collision.
Danellis thanked the community for its support.
"People have been very supportive with their words, their cards, their prayers and their offers of assistance in any way," he said.
