Volunteers needed for airport emergency drill

Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden needs volunteer victims for an Oct. 5 mass casualty drill, designed to help local emergency services train for the worst. As many as 60 volunteers, from middle school age to adults, are needed for the mock airplane incident, from 7 a.m. to early afternoon.

Meals will be provided. Safety of participants is the top priority for the training. Call 276-5011 for information or to sign up, or e-mail szwak@co.routt.co.us with a list of names, ages and phone numbers for volunteers in your group.

Wednesday is deadline for Hayden youth basketball

Wednesday is the registration deadline for boys and girls basketball in Hayden. Fifth- and sixth-graders can participate in the program, which runs from Oct. 20 to Dec. 18. The cost is $25. Pick up registration forms at Hayden Town Hall, 178 W. Jefferson Ave.

Foreign exchange program applications due Sept. 30

Steamboat Springs Rotary Club is accepting applications for the school year and summer youth exchange programs. Students 15 to 18 years old can apply to study in a foreign country. The deadline is Sept. 30. Call Lynaia at 879-9300.

Pilot & Today editorial board seeks new members

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from readers who would like to serve as community representatives on the newspaper's Editorial Board from mid-September through the end of 2008.

Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or fewer expressing their interest to Brent Boyer at bboyer@steamboatpilot.com or P.O.
