More power outages expected for residents
Steamboat Springs Yampa Valley Electric Association crews continued to repair damaged equipment Thursday afternoon after two separate lightning strikes knocked out power to parts of west Steamboat Springs on Wednesday evening.
The strikes left some customers without power for three or more hours, YVEA spokesman Jim Chappell said.
Lightning struck a reclosure at the Strawberry Park feeder station and an insulator on an electrical pole between Routt County Road 44C and C.R. 129.
"It's probably going to cost us more to take it down and fix than the parts," Chappell said.
