Art events

¤ Artists' Gallery of Steamboat hosts a figure drawing session from 8:30 a.m. until noon today. The session, which takes place on the second and fourth Fridays of every month, costs $12. Call 879-4744.

¤ The Routt County Humane Society hosts a live auction and party at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center for its annual fundraiser. As part of the organization's "Art Unleashed" project, 12 local artists decorated fiberglass dogs. The dogs have been on display downtown all summer, and will be up for live auction at the fundraiser, which includes hors d'oeuvres, dessert, an open bar and a silent auction of donated items. ¤ Leisure Mountain Studio in Yampa hosts a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday for its September exhibit, a collection of watercolor paintings and mixed media by Carol Jean. Leisure Mountain Studio is a coffee shop/gallery space at 158 Moffat Ave. in Yampa. Call 638-4500.

¤ Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym hosts a beginner's scrapbooking workshop with Sheila Forney from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The class continues at the same time Friday, Sept. 19. Cost is $30 per class, or $50 for both, plus $30 for materials. Call 870-0384.

¤ K. Saari Gallery presents "F Words," a collaborative drawing project by Jane Moffitt and Susan Hover Oehme, as well as solo exhibitions by each artist. Call 870-0188.

¤ Artists' Gallery of Steamboat presents "Something Wild," featuring work Patricia Walsh, Susan Schiesser and Christopher Oar. Call 879-4744.

¤ The Steamboat Art Museum features two exhibits: "The New Frontier: Reflective Light Sculpture," a collection of object-oriented sculptures with black light enhancements by local artist Don Woodsmith and "Local Colors," a collection of work by regional artists. Call 870-1755.

¤ The Depot Art Center and the Steamboat Springs Arts Council present "Free Falling: Taking the Journey," a collection of kiln-formed glasswork by Robin Clow. The venue also features still life paintings by Madeleine O'Connell and selections from the 2008 Artist's Studio Tour. Call 879-9008.
