Pilot Editorial Board seeking new members

— The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from readers who would like to serve as community representatives on the newspaper's Editorial Board from mid-September through the end of 2008.

The Editorial Board includes two community representatives and four members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board are General Manager Suzanne Schlicht, Editor Brent Boyer, City Editor Mike Lawrence and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper. The Editorial Board meets at 10 a.m. Tuesdays.

Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or less expressing their interest to Boyer at bboyer@steamboatpilot.com or P.O. Box 774827, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Letters also may be dropped off at the Pilot & Today office at 1901 Curve Plaza. Call Boyer at 871-4221 with questions.

Soup Bowl Supper tickets now on sale

Tickets for the Steamboat Clay Artisan's eighth annual Soup Bowl Supper are now on sale for $20 each at All That Jazz; Blue Sky Pottery, located in the Pine Grove Center; and Partner's in Routt County, at Colorado Mountain College's Bogue Hall, suite 211. The cost is $25 at the door. This year's fundraiser benefits Partners in Routt County, to bring in an AmeriCorp Vista volunteer. The supper has seatings at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Participants receive a hand-made ceramic bowl, soup from a local restaurant, bread, beverage and dessert. LIFT-UP offers food assistance program

LIFT-UP of Routt County is distributing USDA commodities for the third quarter of 2008 at LIFT-UP offices in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek, through the Emergency Food Assistance Program. Each eligible household may receive TEFAP foods once per quarter. This quarterly distribution ends Sept. 30. Food will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 870-8804 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to inquire about income-eligibility and hours of operation for each office.
