Thanks to veterans: Robert L. Simillion

— As a former resident of Steamboat Springs, I would like to pay tribute to the members of the VFW and American Legion Military Memorial Services Team. The members are all veterans of the U.S. military and have spent many hours of volunteer time training and perfecting the memorial services for deceased servicemen and servicewomen. They conduct the memorial service with strict detail and proficiency in honoring the deceased veteran.

As a Navy veteran of World War II, I was honored to have this service performed for my son, Alan Simillion, on June 7, 2008, at Steamboat Springs Cemetery.

Thanks and appreciation should be given to VFW Commander Tony Weiss, American Legion Commander Bob Printy, acting adjutant Jim Stanko, firing squad leader Doug Werner, and flag ceremony leader Rick Reinhart for their outstanding leadership and dedication to this very important last rites for veterans. Thanks also should be extended to all members of these organizations who participated in the ceremony.
