Hayden volleyball falls to West Grand
The Hayden High School volleyball team fell to West Grand on Tuesday night, 3-1.
West Grand won the first two games, 25-17 and 25-23, before Hayden clawed back for a 25-19 win in the third set.
In the fourth set, the Mustangs proved to be too much, outdueling the Tigers, 25-20.
Hayden senior Holli Salazar led the Tigers with 11 kills. After a strong start in the Plateau Valley Tournament last weekend, the Tigers fall to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
"We had problems passing the ball," Hayden coach Greg Johnson said. "But we played a real good team in West Grand. They were really well coached, but we hope to get them back next time."

Kate and Julia Cooper opened up the high school and junior high rodeo season in Cortez last weekend.

Julia, a freshman, had the busiest weekend.
On Saturday, she finished eighth in calf roping and 22nd in barrel racing. Then, on Sunday, she finished eighth and 15th in pole bending and 18th in barrels.
The two continue in competition this Saturday and Sunday in Hotchkiss.
