TIC gives to Northwest Colorado youth programs

Kim Slaughter, TIC purchasing agent, watches youngsters at the Boys and Girls Club of Craig play on a recent afternoon. Slaughter was at the club to present a $3,000 check from TIC raised during a charitable golf tournament that Slaughter helped organize. TIC gave another $3,000 to Everything Outdoor Steamboat, which provides outdoor recreation opportunities for middle-schoolers.
Steamboat Springs — Everything Outdoor Steamboat and the Boys and Girls Club of Craig were beneficiaries of two $3,000 donations from TIC this year.
The company raised the money through a charity golf tournament held in conjunction with the annual picnic. Kevin Ramsay, who chaired the event for TIC, said EOS and the Boys and Girls Club were chosen specifically because of the work they do with the youth of Northwest Colorado. Ramsay is the vice president of Electrical for TIC. He received significant help with the tournament from Diana Cook, TIC operations administrative assistant, and Kim Slaughter, purchasing agent for TIC.
The goal of EOS is to use the outdoors as a classroom where middle-schoolers can develop motivation and self confidence while engaging in challenging activities that might turn into hobbies.
The Boys and Girls Club of Craig serves an average of 112 kids each weekday, offering a safe, fun, enriching place for youngsters to go after school. The club hosts children age 6-17 from 3 to 7 p.m. and has so far served 803 different children in 2008. In addition to physical programs and learning activities, the club provides dinner for all of the participants.
