Steamboat Springs A winter weather advisory will go into effect for the Steamboat Springs area beginning 6 a.m. Saturday morning and will remain in place until 6 p.m. Sunday evening, the National Weather Service has announced.
Joe Ramey, a National Weather Service forecaster in Grand Junction, said the storm system moving through the area will likely deposit a total of 4 to 8 inches on the mountains by Sunday night.
"It doesn't look very impressive, 1 to 2 inches or 2 to 4 inches (per day), but that adds up," Ramey said.
There is a possibility snow drifting on Rabbit Ears Pass and other mountain areas, creating potentially hazardous driving situations, Ramey said.
Steamboat will see a mix of rain and snow over the coming days. Ramey said he does not expect accumulation in town.
