Arapahoe Basin hopes to open seventh run

Arapahoe Basin — Although no Thanksgiving-specific festivities are planned at Arapahoe Basin this holiday weekend, the mountain hopes to open Sundance - another beginner trail from mid-mountain down - on Saturday.
"For Saturday, we'll hopefully have seven trails open. ... We also will be opening our underground pedestrian tunnel from upper lots to the base area (Thursday)," said Kristin Lee, the advertising manager at A-Basin. "Our new shuttle buses will be running all weekend. If anyone is parking in the upper lot, they won't have to walk far."
So, visitors can expect more parking and easier access to the Basin's base.
Lee also has started to see out-of-town guests.
"Early season has been really busy," Lee said. "It leveled off once the other mountains opened, but it's stayed steady."
Numbers for Basin attendance were not available to the public.
Black Mountain Lodge, the mid-mountain restaurant at the top of the Exhibition Chair lift, also opened Nov. 21, Lee added. Beginner skiing is available on Molly Hogan and Molly's Magic Carpet.
Blue runs - High Noon, Dercum's Gulch, Lenawee Face and Ramrod - are open, along with the High Divide terrain park.
Lenawee Mtn. Chair is running and lessons started two weeks ago. Tele clinics are available, too.
"We're going full force," Lee said. "Just waiting for some more snow."
