Wrestlers place high in meets

The Steamboat Peewee wrestling program enjoyed success at tournaments each of the past two weekends.
Wrestling in West Grand on Nov. 8, the club picked up four first-place finishes. Peyton Belton and Lance Bryant won their weight classes in third grade while Dakota Thvedt, fourth, and Maxx May, seventh, won, as well.
Utah Schamanski, Teyha Johnson, Colton Pasternak and Brandon Yeager all finished second.
In third place was Jack Conrad, Jayden Kemry, Isaac Waters, Spencer Mader, Katelyn Hoffman, Theo Hansen, Riley Hutchinson, Kolton Voeltzel, Alec Koepfer and Dane Koepfer.
Tallak Myhre, Gage Reynolds and Wilder Gray were fourth.
Devon McNeilly and Sam McClure finished fifth. Tyler Johnson, in fifth grade, and Michael Johnson were sixth.
The team also was successful in Saturday's Two Mile High tournament in Leadville.
Kindergartner Brodie Bosick joined first-grader Ethan Hansen, May, Gray, Thvedt and Michael Johnson in winning their divisions.
McNeilly, Kemry, Braden Bosick, Hansen, Teyha Johnson, Hutchinson, Yeager and Dane Koepfer were all second.
Earning third was Reynolds, Tyler Johnson and Alec Koepfer. Hoffman and Belton placed fourth.
The team returns to action Saturday in Eagle Valley. It wraps up the season Dec. 7 with a home tournament at Steamboat Springs High School.
