Sign-ups under way for North Routt Golf Classic

Registration is under way for the sixth annual North Routt Golf Classic June 8 at the Steamboat Sheraton Golf Club. All proceeds benefit the North Routt Community Charter School. Space is limited, so sign up early. Pre-registration costs $135 per golfer or $520 per foursome and includes cart, lunch and prizes. Rates increase beginning May 29. Food assistance available from LIFT-UP Routt County

The LIFT-UP of Routt County offices in Hayden, Oak Creek and Steamboat Springs are distributing USDA commodities for the second quarter of 2008 through the federal Emergency Food Assistance Program. Each eligible household may receive food from the program once per quarter. The quarterly distribution ends June 30. Call 870-8804, from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, to inquire about income eligibility and hours of operation for each office.

Horizons seeks volunteers for summer programs

Horizons Specialized Services, which provides services for people who have developmental disabilities, is in need of volunteers to help with summer events and programs. Activities include boating at Stagecoach Reservoir, swimming at Old Town Hot Springs, Special Olympics in Craig and Greeley, Steamboat Marathon, Family Fun Fest and ongoing one-on-one mentoring. Volunteers sought for Routt County Fair centennial

Plans are being made for the 100-year anniversary of the Routt County Fair in summer 2014. Volunteers are needed to form the "Friends of the Fair - Centennial Committee." Call Jo for more information at 846-2627.
