Robin Stone: Sign offensive

— Driving down gorgeous River Road a few days ago, I was surprised to see a new sign that read "Litter Bites." Not only is the sign an ill-suited glaring blue color, but the language upon it is offensive and unnecessary.

The "do not litter" sign is more unsightly than the problem it proposes to prevent. As we try to maintain Steamboat's rural character, do we really need more signage that is bold, bright and vulgar?

who'd a thunk that the purpose was to get the attention of the public. looks like it's working.

Poor Robin-if you think a sign that says "litter bites" is vulgar and offensive, you really must live in a cave or you've been wrongly sheltered all of your life. I agree, it is a dumb sign; but why write something about it and waste your time? It's not vulgar, it's not offensive, it's just dumb.

Nothing worse than a glaring blue color.

Actually, as I drove by it early Saturday morning enjoying the scenery, my thought was do we really need another sign and does someone think it will stop anyone from littering? How much post and sign production energy and County fuel did that take?

Seems like a waste of money, do you think that people who litter are actually going to stop because of a sign. In this case the sign becomes litter itself.
