Dog auditions for Toto on Friday

— Steamboat Springs Middle School's spring production of "The Wizard of Oz" is hosting Toto auditions for local dogs at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the middle school. The audition event is a fundraiser for the play, and donations of $10 per dog are appreciated. Event includes a raffle for dog-related prizes and awards for cutest dog and best trick. All dogs are welcome, big or small - a dog that can either stay in Dorothy's basket or heel to Dorothy is sought. To register, contact Aimee at 871-3501, 846-2793 or aweekslynn44@yahoo.com.

Veterans health clinic

opens in Craig

The new Craig Telehealth Clinic, 551 Tucker St. in Craig, is open and providing medical services to veterans in Northwest Colorado. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 834-6721. The clinic is not an emergency care facility. To make an appointment at the clinic, call toll-free, 1-866-206-6415, ext. 2778, and speak to Kristine Wunderwald. Schools announce

Parent Academy event

The Steamboat Springs School District hosts a Parent Academy event, focused on underage drug and alcohol use and abuse, April 29 through May 2 at Steamboat Springs High School. A free dinner begins at 5 p.m., followed by a discussion with John Underwood of the American Athletic Institute from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Underwood is familiar with the pressures and challenges particular to resort communities concerning underage drinking. He is involved with research about the detrimental effects of alcohol and substance abuse on young people's minds, bodies and school and athletic performance.
