Bravo to the S.O. Deputies. Showing everybody that there is more to law enforcement than just arresting people. You would never see a State Trooper or SSPD Officer helping someone change a tire. When you are in law enforcement, you take an oath to "protect and serve" and the S.O. Deputies obviously adhere to that oath.

Thanks to the RCSO for doing something nice.
No matter what people are saying about Sheriff Wall, these officers did something that reflects well on them and their department. It's a very welcome change.

last time i had a flat tire was several years ago out by dream island. i got the third degree from the cops (sspd not sheriff deputies) and no help whatsoever. my spare was almost flat and i knew it. i had two cans of fix-a-flat in the car. however, they were both cold and frozen. i put them on the defroster vents to warm them up. then i opened the today and started doing the crossword while i waited for the cans to warm up. my rear window was all frosty, and i was engrossed in the crossword. i didn't even see the two cops who had pulled up behind me. one of them tapped on my window with a hand on his gun. i jumped because i didn't know he was there and he scared me half to death, and he jumped when i jumped. i thought he was going to pull his gun and shoot me. then he starts yelling at me. says i need to move along, and that i can't pull over there to take a nap. (he thought i was asleep since i was looking down at the newspaper and reading and didn't see him until he was tapping on my window.) it was pretty obvious that my left rear tire was completely flat. the cop had walked right past the flat tire on his way to harass me. i explained to him that i had a flat and was waiting for the cans of fix-a-flat to thaw out. he then proceeds to run my licence and registration through the computer. gives me a hard time because i had just moved from a house up on fish creek to a house downtown a couple weeks before, and had registered my car at the new address, but hadn't changed my drivers licence yet. then there was about ten or fifteen more minutes of lecture on the importance of having my drivers licence show my current address, and a lot of useless questioning about what i was doing? and where i was going? and who was i going to see? i then get out of the car to try one of the cans of fix-a-flat. cop tells me to stay seated in the car. how am i supposed to fix the flat tire from inside the car? after finally getting out of the car, i tried one can of fix-a-flat. it wasn't warm enough yet. then a while later i tried the other one. meanwhile i've got both cops sitting behind me in their cars with lights going. i try one of the cans again, but it still won't work. so i decide to put my spare on which has only slightly more air than the flat tire already on the car. not one bit of help from the two cops, who just sat there for forty five minutes watching me. then when i let the car down on the spare tire with low air, the cop tells me i can't drive the car like that. i then had to walk back to bob's conoco to get another can of fix-a-flat. not even an offer for a ride from the cops.
