Upcoming events

TODAY

- The Soroco High School World History class is serving hot dogs, chili, drinks and desserts from 11 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. outside Ace at the Curve, 2155 Curve Plaza in Steamboat. The proceeds will help fund a seven-student trip to Chicago to visit the Art Museum, attend a medieval dinner and more.

- All youth groups and high school students are invited to a showing of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at 1 p.m. at Steamboat Mountain Theater in Ski Time Square. Event is free, but donations welcome. Concessions will be available for purchase. All are welcome to watch the movie, but big screen games and social mixers following the film will be for high school students and youth leaders only. - Free open gym basketball for boys and girls in grades four through eight is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Soroco High School. Call John at 819-3073.

MONDAY

- Early kindergarten registration for Soda Creek and Strawberry Park elementary schools is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through March 14 at each school. Children in the Steamboat Springs School District area who will be 5 years old as of Oct. 1 are eligible. Take immunization records, proof of birth and proof of residence, such as a utility bill. Parents outside the school district can register, but will not be notified until the fall if accepted.

TUESDAY

- Christian Heritage School hosts an information session about fall 2008 full-day kindergarten programs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the school. Crafts for children and refreshments are provided. Call 879-1760.

- The monthly meeting of the North Routt Community Charter School begins at 6 p.m. at the school in Clark. All are welcome. Call 875-0131.

WEDNESDAY

- A Hayden Middle School track team parent and athlete meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria. Track practice begins at 4 p.m. March 17.
