Steamboat briefs for March 6

Wall trial scheduled for April 29

— In a Routt County Court hearing via telephone Tuesday, Routt County Sheriff Gary Wall did not enter a plea in the driving under the influence case against him. Instead, all parties agreed to reset the trial in order to trail a related case.

Wall has appealed the Colorado Department of Revenue's yearlong revocation of his driver's license. Prosecutors have until March 15 to respond to the appeal. A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for 11 a.m. April 29. The DUI case will follow.

Chamber scholarship deadline is April 8

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association Ambassadors are offering $14,000 in scholarships to local students this year. Funds are raised through participation and sponsorships in the annual Y.E.S. Golf Tournament, to be held June 4 at the Sheraton Golf Course. Applications for this year's scholarships are available at all five Routt County high schools and are due April 8. Finalists are selected on academics, community involvement, school participation and work experience. Winners are announced at graduation ceremonies. Two scholarships also will be awarded to returning college sophomore applicants.

Call Meadow Jones at 846-7290 for scholarship information. Call Craig Kennedy at 846-9859 for golf tournament information.
