Helpers needed for 34th annual Art in the Park

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is looking for volunteers to sell wristbands and help at the entry gates at Art in the Park on July 12 and 13. Two-hour shifts per volunteer are available. Call 879-9008, ext. 106 for more information.

VNA cautions against fireworks-related injuries

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association reminds residents that fireworks-related injuries are most common on and around holidays associated with fireworks celebrations, especially the Fourth of July. The safest way to prevent fireworks-related injuries is to leave fireworks displays to trained professionals. For more information, visit www.cdc.gov and search "fireworks."

Aging Well now offering health, Tai Chi classes

Space still is available in the free, six-session Healthier Living class offered by Aging Well. The class is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through July 30 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The class offers instruction about living well with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, emphysema or cancer. Call Teresa Wright at 871-7676 for information.

Aging Well's free Tai Chi for Arthritis classes take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 5 at the Oak Creek Community Center and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays through July 31 at the Hayden Congregational Church. The movements of Tai Chi may provide relief from some symptoms of arthritis. Call 871-7676 to register.

Volunteers sought at Routt County Fair centennial

Plans now are being made for the 100-year anniversary of the Routt County Fair in summer 2014. Volunteers are needed to form the "Friends of the Fair Centennial Committee." Call Jo at 846-2627 for information.
