Food assistance available from LIFT-UP offices
The LIFT-UP of Routt County offices in Hayden, Oak Creek and Steamboat Springs are distributing USDA commodities for the second quarter of 2008 through the federal Emergency Food Assistance Program. Each eligible household may receive food from the program once per quarter. The quarterly distribution ends June 30. Call 870-8804, from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, to inquire about income eligibility and hours of operation for each office.
Volunteers needed for Ducks Unlimited banquet
The local chapter of Ducks Unlimited is seeking volunteers for its banquet and silent auction Sept. 5 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. If you would like to help with the banquet or have questions or need information, call Ron and Kathy Whaley at 870-9947.
Youth Corps seeking community volunteers
Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is looking for community members to volunteer for field-based workshops all summer. Volunteers would visit RMYC crews and discuss life-skill topics such as career development, leadership and healthy lifestyles. For more information, call 879-2135, ext. 4.
Volunteers sought for Routt County Fair centennial
Plans now are being made for the 100-year anniversary of the Routt County Fair in summer 2014. Volunteers are needed to form the "Friends of the Fair - Centennial Committee." Call Jo for more information at 846-2627.
