Police chief up for review

Oak Creek's Caterinicchio rated positively by committee

— Oak Creek's police commissioners will give their evaluation of Police Chief Russ Caterinicchio to the Town Board at tonight's meeting.

Caternicchio was rated as exceeding requirements, and the evaluation committee will be recommending a 2 percent merit increase retroactive to his 6-month anniversary in April, police commissioner Chuck Wisecup said. Caterinicchio is on vacation and could not be reached for comment.

Caternicchio's self-evaluation was compared to those by the evaluation committee, which included Wisecup, former police commissioner Dave Fisher and Sgt. Erik Foster. Dave Ege, who was appointed a police commissioner after his election to the Town Board in April, will take part in future evaluations instead of Fisher, Wisecup said.

Caterinicchio's performance has not been without its criticisms from elected officials and from the townspeople, though the hubbub around the Oak Creek Police Department has quieted noticeably in the past few months. Mayor J. Elliott unsuccessfully proposed to disband the police department in March, after months of back-and-forth discussion by residents expressing passionate support and distaste for stepped-up law enforcement in Oak Creek. The town's police department was reformed last fall.

The Town Board also is expected to appoint Mike Yurich as an Oak Creek representative to the South Routt Library District Board of Trustees, Town Clerk Karen Halterman said.

Also on tonight's agenda:

- A presentation by town attorney Bob Weiss on new board member orientation and municipal court matters

- A presentation by Melissa Cameron from Partners of Routt County

- A presentation by Rene Johnson and Andy Benjamin on Bucket Park and amendment of the Old Town Hall/Tracks and Trails Museum Lease

- Approval of selection of Entex for MBBR and to authorize Jacobs Carter Burgess to act on behalf of town to request new technology approval from CDHE; upon approval of the CDHE, authorize advertisement for treatment plant construction bids

- Recommendation of Jacobs Carter Burgess to sign contract documents with Swerdfeger as contractor for sewer rehabilitation project

- Sierra View letter of credit

- Discussion of approval for new hire for Public Works Department

- Schedule budget worksession

YEP. we are all in the slammer. everyone that doesn't care for Russ and Eric Creepy Foster must all be criminals. Good. Stay in Steamboat with your developers, traffic problems, and money hungry neighbors. At least you all have decent officers... we have just learned to call the Sheriff's dept when something remotely serious occurs.

We're quiet because the 2 bozo's that OC has for officers haven't been spotted in town for a week.

Russ has been on vacation and I'm not sure of Eric's whereabouts lately. I can't believe that there hasn't been a crime spree.

More proof of the Town wasting $$$$$ to suffice the bible thumping recovering addicts.

The word Bozo fits Flotilla and not our Policing Force. Questions.

*Has never worked for anything inherited huge gobs of land? Downs S.Boat developers for their land use?

*Sits around the O. Creek all day either loafing at the bar or anywhere he doesnt get thrown out? Hopes Officers will disappear totally in town? This would benefit the drinking issue some may encounter?

*Chooses to follow those not wishing to follow the law?

Just because you loath and disrepect Police protection does not hold true for the majority?

Stay in the bar
