Volunteers needed to build playgrounds
Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Rotary Club is seeking volunteers to build two state-of-the-art playground structures at Soda Creek and Strawberry Park elementary schools. Hundreds of volunteers are needed during a five-day period from Thursday to Monday. The new structures will be barrier-free, providing access to disabled individuals and reducing injuries with a rubberized surface. Skilled and unskilled volunteers are needed as well as people who can help donate and organize food and beverages for lunches and snacks. Adult baseball league stepping to the plate
The Yampa Valley Adult Baseball Club begins its summer/fall league Sunday on fields in Steamboat Springs and Craig. The free league is open to everyone and runs until mid-September. Call Tommy at 871-4776 for more information.
County historic registry applications due Aug. 22
Applications for designation on the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due to the Routt County Board of Commissioners' office in the Routt County Courthouse by Aug. 22. The Historic Preservation Board will review applications at its Sept. 12 meeting. Call Dee Bolton at 879-0108 for more information.
Volunteers needed for library move
Bud Werner Memorial Library staff members are seeking volunteer help to move 80,000 items into the expanded library, during five-hour shifts Aug. 16, 17 and 18. Stop by the front desk of the library on 13th Street to sign up, or call 879-0240, ext. 1. Volunteer hours can contribute toward community service requirements.
