— Pilot & Today city editor involved in rollover crash

The Colorado State Patrol cited Mike Lawrence, city editor of the Steamboat Pilot & Today, for careless driving Sunday morning after he rolled his car on U.S. Highway 40 in Grand County.

Lawrence crashed about 9:30 a.m. when he attempted to pass a pickup towing a trailer on eastbound U.S. 40 near mile 164, west of Kremmling.

Lawrence said he did not see the oncoming car in the westbound lane. Lawrence avoided the oncoming car but lost control of his vehicle, which rolled over once and came to rest on the side of the road.

Lawrence was transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and was released Sunday afternoon.

There were no passengers in Lawrence's car, and no other vehicles were affected.

Trooper James Proctor of the Colorado State Patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the accident and that Lawrence was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

"He obviously got lucky and he knows it," Proctor said.
