On behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the families we serve, a sincere thank you to the Steamboat Springs Fire Department for making this year's "Fill-the-Boot" drive a success. Firefighters selflessly give their time year after year to aid in the fight against muscular dystrophy.
Also, a big thank you to the Steamboat Springs community, which generously helped fill the boot. This year's drive raised $5,167, which is more than $2,000 more than the previous year. The proceeds collected from the Steamboat Springs Boot Drive will aid local children and adults affected by neuromuscular diseases by providing wheelchairs, leg braces, clinic visits, support groups and a chance for children to attend the local MDA summer camp. For more than 54 years, firefighters and MDA have partnered to fight neuromuscular diseases. MDA applauds these heroes, who not only battle flames, but muscular dystrophy, as well.
