Respect on river

No single user group should dictate the use of any public land ... that said, each user group should respect the other users. The backcountry skiers and snowmobilers had to work it out, so should the fishermen and tubers. The tube-hatch is relatively brief and the section of river they use is relatively short. The existing laws should absolutely be enforced but I don't think that more restrictions on the tubers are needed. The fishermen can seek out other world-class water just a mile or two up river for the month of July. The reality is that tourism pays the bills in Steamboat and the city and Chamber will continue to market every aspect of the Steamboat summer experience. Tubers, behave yourselves. ... Fishermen, learn to share the river.

Emerald growth

I think letting Mr. Orton develop that small parcel of emerald would be a small chink in the armor for the Emerald Mountain trail network. Also, it would allow hundreds of people to live in an affordable house (a pipe dream) just like people did in Fairview many many many years ago. Maybe some city workers would be able to walk from Fairview to work, and alleviate the "parking issue."

Orton's ownership

This land is accessible because Orton permits it. A new owner may not be so generous. That's the point - if Orton were given the go-ahead with his project, that land would always be accessible to the public. :This step was only for UGB expansion. He should have been given the opportunity to go the next round.

Keep open space

Conserve our in town open space!!!!! Thank you (at least temporarily) to our planning commission. When hiking or biking Emerald, I would rather not see houses and a ... nordic lodge on the flank of that mountain.
