Newspaper seeks local summer contributions

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is seeking reader-submitted contributions for its 2008 summer series, which will explore the mountain pine beetle epidemic drastically transforming Colorado's treasured landscapes.

Readers are encouraged to share their favorite memories of the forest, their sorrow at the loss of trees or their excitement about its regeneration. Submissions could include stories, anecdotes, photographs, a poem or song - anything that could be translated to the print or online versions of the five-part series, which begins publication Sunday, July 27, and continues in the Sunday newspaper through Aug. 24.

Submissions can be sent to reporter Brandon Gee via e-mail at bgee@steamboapilot.com or mailed to P.O. Box 774827, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. Gee can be reached by phone at 871-4210.
