Steamboat Springs improves water system

— The Steamboat Springs Public Works Department is almost finished with a project to help prevent loss of water service to residents in the event of a water main break.

Insertion valves have been installed in seven locations throughout the city, to allow sections of the city water system to be isolated so that water service can continue while work on the isolated section takes place.

New insertion valves have been installed at Bud Werner Memorial Library, 11th and Yampa streets, Ninth and Yampa streets, Seventh and Yampa streets, Sixth and Yampa streets, 12th and Oak streets, Logan Avenue and Grand Street and 2258 Downhill Drive.

The last phase of the city's project is paving, which is scheduled to be completed Wednesday.

Thank you PILOT for reporting this. Maybe this will help to curb the teenagers from running around late at night & make parents think twice about who their children are hanging out with.

So pinon do you think this will raise awareness to the almost 30 yr old man partying with the high schoolers. Seems his girlfriends lose their apeal after they graduate from high school!

aristocat- The article says 20yrs old. Not much better than a 30yo with a 14yo, but still not that close to 30...unless you're talking about something else?

Bluntman...you are not much on the "know"....it was not the OCPD that arrested this 20 year old man....it was RCSO that handled the case and continue to do the follow-up!

thanks for the correction, Parfait. fact is, this is something that was mentioned to me by the previous chief several years ago. fact remains, she did nothing.

aristocat- Ah! You mean the explosion incident near Meeker a little while back. Got it! I was going off of this one about the 20yo w/ the 14yo. Sorry for the confusion.

looks like the good chief has found another way to save money for the hardworking, taxpaying, law abiding citizens of OC. everyone knows just how broke the town is, after all.

Matt...if you go back to the time of the explosion on Dunkley, and look at the blog, you will see that there was a 27 yo man there that had a 16 yo girlfriend and their baby was at home at the time of the blast. People were commenting about him then. Since then, he found out the baby wasn't his, she graduated and he has dated several other high schoolers. Whenever there is a runaway in OC, that is ususally where they are found. He continues to have parties and lives a short way from the OCPD.

Back to my previous comment, will this raise the awareness!

fortunately, Oak Creek now has a police department that operates with integrity and accountability and deals with crimes such as this as opposed to sweeping them under the rug as was commonplace with the former dog catcher... oops, i mean chief. she knew about this guy and his behavior and by reading the comments here, it seems that plenty of other people did (or, do) as well.

"me an' so-and-so (insert name of perp of choice) have a real good working relationship..." was the usual response to any sort of complaint.

yeah, right.

Wasn't commenting on the old chief, but was respondint to your comment about "police department that operates with integrity and accountability and deals with crimes". When you need an officer in OC, everyone knows to call Steamboat because there in never an officer on duty when you need one! They think our crime happen Monday through Thursday 8 - 5! You may catch one out at 10, but they are doing business check! It seems lately since Officer Rossi has been back, we have more night time coverage, but then we had her before!

I read a blog about a 40 year old man getting beat up by his son, and when the ambulalance was called, they had to wait ..........

nmypinon (anonymous) July 10, 2008 at 2:32 p.m. (Suggest removal) I like this one. ( It was not in the blotter butttt) Early Tuesday morning 3am or so there was a man that was beat up by his son (the father just had stomach surgery) his stitches were ripped out & had several other injuries. The EMT'S could not treat this man until the scene was secure. The SO & CSP units were at least 20+ minutes out of town & the chief said it would take him at least 15 minutes to respond. HE LIVES MAYBE 3 BLOCKS FROM WHERE THIS HAPPEN. It wouldn't have even taken that long to walk there. Someone on that board needs to open their EYES.

Fact remains more calls are going to RCSO than to OCPD!

Matt...It was Rio Blanco's area but it happened about ten miles out of Oak Creek. Nothing was done then and although it continues nothing is still being done about it! People learn by example and if this 20 year old was partying with the 30 year old and nothing was hampering the 30 year old's life style, why wouldn't the 20 year old think he could get away with it!

So blunt...you say "looks like the good chief has found another way to save money for the hardworking, taxpaying, law abiding citizens of OC. everyone knows just how broke the town is, after all."

So is it so they have plenty of money for fuel so they can use OCPD cars for personal use driving them to and from their homes and where ever else they may travel........

aristocat (anonymous) July 11, 2008 at 3:50 p.m. (Suggest removal) Something to make you go hmmmmm.......Why would an OCPD cruiser be in Silverthorn on Thursday July 3 around 6:30 pm? Isn't OC the only one with 4 seasons of fun? hmmmmmm

Maybe there is something to what 80467srm has to say about not needing OCPD and just using RCSO......

80467srm (anonymous) July 10, 2008 at 5:05 p.m. (Suggest removal) for those who missed OUT all the comments that they were direct quotes from the OC police chef RUSS C. and how much he has contradicked himself!

also........... 5 instances where in the last 5 months that he Routt County Sheriff has had to respond. Or missed cases of laws being broken!

THIS WILL SHOCK YOU!

And you wonder why people question the need for a PD when it is left up to RCSO to take care of Oak Creek!........What major cases has the Chief dealt with since he has been here? Save money....... Is OC saving money when it takes two to do code enforcement!

Or would it be that the money needs to saved to pay for raises?

why ask me, parfait? looks like you have all the answers for your questions already... if you don't you just just make them up or simply resort to heresay, rumor, inuendo and slander. par(fait) for the course as it comes crawling out of the den of darkness.

tell us what you know, not what you heard, Sherlock. if you have a violation of YOUR civil rights to report, why are you whining on and on and on in an anonymous forum? take it to your lawyer and file a class action lawsuit on behalf of all of the poor barflies who don't get a free ride home (at taxpayer expense) from the poolice anymore. quoting you boy inmypinion was a brilliant move. he/she seems to have some inside information that leads me to believe that the person works for dispatch, ambulance crew or maybe a poolice agency or could even be a poolice commisioner for the town of OC. or maybe (most likely) they just spend a lot of time cozied up to the scanner trying to dream up conspiracy theories that don't hold liquids half as well as their bellies. quoting the CLUCKER as another good source of reliable information is a reach at best, but it made me an instant believer in your cause, for sure. CLUCKER has a lot of credibility. aristocrap is another speculator who asks questions and expects an answer from all the wrong people, in a feeble attempt to stir up the s**t. why not go directly to the person who should be asked and report back to all of us the findings? i guess that wouldn't be half as exciting as dimpling a barstool with an imprint of your brain while going on about what you heard, he said, she said, etc. blahblahblah makes for some good yap in the dank darkness of the tavern, but falls way short under scrutiny in the light of day. get a life, drama queens. now, redirecting to my original point; had the former dog catcher/chief acted upon what she knew to be true at the time, at least one fewer underage female(s) would probably not have been victimized by the same perp. THAT is what we are talking about here, and what the important difference is between the poolice department we have now and the one we had then.

but our esteemed mayor keeps going on about how we need a cop like L***a, waxing nostalgic for what was and for what ain't never gonna be again. good riddance.

hmmmmm... what was all that talk about a LAWSUIT?

nmypinon 5 years, 9 months ago

blah, blah, blah, As I stated before I am hoping that since this Young girl came forward & reported being victimized, that maybe this would be an eye opener for some of the parents in this town. Or maybe even help anyone else who may have been a victim of someone be able to come forward. And not that it has anything to do with this topic. No, I am not 1 of your so called barflies.

You have me confused with some of the visions that come from your fogged up brain (I just learned that is what a blunt is)......

Read the police blotter and see how many times the RCSO has responded to Oak Creek needs...Even you should be able to come up from your smoke addled brain to see that they are responding and making more arrest that the OCPD. Read the jail report and see how many arrest the RCSO has and how many the OCPD has. Go to Oak Creek's kangaroo court and see what is there.......code enforcement! That is what we have 3 code enforcement officers riding in two vehicles going to one code infraction! At least when Linda and Judy were on the job it only took one female to do it! Use the fuel money at least in Oak Creek and not riding to the end of the county and beyound! Come out of your smoky coma and realize that there have been several teenagers taken out of that house and it continues to rock! No one is doing anything about it!

Behind every " heresay, rumor, inuendo" there is truth and why isn't the Chief you speak so highly of doing something. Those old rusty cars and animals at large are such a risk to our children and town, lets get them taken care of. Get real! Support your Barney Fife and smoke your Blunts.....Go eat something you sound hungry and it is not for the truth!

And to quote my "boy inmypinion", "No, I am not 1 of your so called barflies."

I don't mind quoting you srm....but take off the cap locks again...dude. That is a sign of shouting and sometimes the softest voice is the one people shut up and listen to.....
