Steamboat Springs improves water system
Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Public Works Department is almost finished with a project to help prevent loss of water service to residents in the event of a water main break.
Insertion valves have been installed in seven locations throughout the city, to allow sections of the city water system to be isolated so that water service can continue while work on the isolated section takes place.
New insertion valves have been installed at Bud Werner Memorial Library, 11th and Yampa streets, Ninth and Yampa streets, Seventh and Yampa streets, Sixth and Yampa streets, 12th and Oak streets, Logan Avenue and Grand Street and 2258 Downhill Drive.
The last phase of the city's project is paving, which is scheduled to be completed Wednesday.
Pelletier graduates from Harvard cum laude
Steamboat Springs High School graduate Chadwick Pelletier recently graduated from Harvard cum laude. He and his wife, Holly, also recently became parents with the birth of their daughter, Reagan Jaymes. The family now lives in Marina del Rey, Calif.
Fritz graduates from Columbia College
Abby Christine Fritz graduated from Columbia College in Chicago during a ceremony June 30. Fritz received a bachelor's degree in cultural studies.
Oak Creek man arrested for sexual assault
A 20-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of having improper sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.
The man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and enticement of child, Class 4 felonies. He was released Wednesday from the Routt County Jail on $10,000 bail.
