Northwest Colorado Products is an initiative of the Community Agriculture Alliance that is emerging as a formidable force in raising awareness of the value of regional products. Consider the following opportunities to learn more about available products and the stories behind our regional producers.

NWCP's co-hosting of the March "What's in our Foodshed: Examining the Demand and Potential of Growing Product for the Local Marketplace," has resulted in a partnership with local food activists to form Deep Roots of Northwest Colorado: A Local Food Trust. Deep Roots brings together community members, local producers of agricultural products and civic leaders to implement strategic projects and educational programs that cultivate a local, sustainable food system and focus on programs and projects that raise public awareness about the value of our local food system. Deep Roots will premiere www.deeprootsco.org soon. Check it out and learn more about this exciting group, what is growing in the valley and how you can help grow our foodshed.

On July 26, Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. and the Community Agriculture Alliance will team up to host the seventh annual Ranch Rendezvous Days. Held in conjunction with the Mainstreet Steamboat Springs Farmers Market, you will experience a pairing of agriculture and its biproducts.

On a recent trip to Washington D.C., I enjoyed an exquisite dinner at the Georgetown restaurant, Hook. As I read through the menu, I realized the incredible dedication to purchasing local food for the restaurant. And then I noticed the entire kitchen staff wearing hats with a stunning message: "No Farms No Food." The poignant message reminded me of our occasional lack of understanding of where many of our food or other agriculture products come from. Engage with Deep Roots and attend Ranch Rendezvous Days to grow your knowledge and appreciation of our farmers, ranchers and related producers of Northwest Colorado.
