Steamboat Springs Thank you, Steamboat Springs Police Department.
When I got to my car on Friday morning, I froze in my tracks. Someone had gotten in it, gone through everything, and stolen a bit of money and possibly a few other items. I grew livid and angry.
I then contemplated calling SSPD to report the crime, but decided not to. After all, I have never lived in a place where the police department would offer more than a "I'm sorry to hear that" before promptly dropping the matter.
Nevertheless, after a little while, I decided to go ahead and do so anyway, at least for the sake (of) local crime statistics. In retrospect, I am glad I did, and what I witnessed next truly impressed me.
Dispatch was extremely sympathetic as it took down my information. To my surprise, within 10 minutes of hanging up with dispatch, an officer was present to take my statement. Not only that, he proceeded to lift prints from my vehicle to log them into a now active case file.
In short, I want to thank and commend the Steamboat Springs Police Department and Officer Scott Middleton in particular for their responsiveness, professionalism, thoroughness, and service. As a resident here, I would like them to know that their work and efforts are greatly appreciated.
