— Steamboat Springs High School Alpine skier Jenny Allen continued her dominance in the prep ranks, picking up another win in Friday's giant slalom at Aspen Highlands.

Allen, who had previously won in Breckenridge, finished with a combined time of 1 minute, 25.88 seconds, almost a full two seconds ahead of second-place finisher Marisa Ammaturo from Battle Mountain.

"We're continuing to put in good results," Alpine coach Chad Bowdre said. "We're headed into our second half of the season. We've had three races and we have three to go. We have to keep that attitude of having good, solid runs and continuing doing this, because we're doing it as a team."

The Steamboat girls and boys teams finished third at Aspen. Summit won the boys race, with Aspen finishing second. Battle Mountain won the girls competition, with Middle Park finishing second.

Along with Allen's top finish, Steamboat got solid results from Linnea Dixson (12th), Jamie Gay (16th) and Casidy Daley (18th).

The boys were led by Sam Glaisher's sixth-place finish. Jace Wirth finished seventh, Ramsey Bernard finished 15th, and Mark Dennis finished 30th for the Sailors.

Bowdre said he was pleased with the results, especially considering the conditions. With temperatures struggling to get above zero degrees and the soft snow making the course tougher than usual, Bowdre came away from the meet happy.

"They did a good job of keeping it together," Bowdre said. "It was wicked cold."

With three races left in the season, Bowdre now turns his attention to trying to qualify as many racers as possible for the state skiing championships Feb. 14 and 15 at the Steamboat Ski Area.

Considering the team's success this season and the Sailors' attitudes, Bowdre said the possibility of having a full slate of Steamboat skiers at the state championships is a real possibility.

"I got a comment from a parent of another team kid on how great our team is and how great our athletes act," Bowdre said. "I take that as a huge compliment for our community."

The Alpine team continues action Friday at Ski Cooper.
