Chandler Coyle and Lynn Abbott: Service worthwhile

— As outgoing members of the Steamboat Pilot & Today's Editorial Board, we want to publicly thank the Steamboat Pilot for granting us the opportunity to join them these past four months and actually become members of their staff. It was an experience that we will always cherish. We learned a lot about our community, and, more importantly, about the Steamboat Pilot. We learned that they have no vested interest about what should be done in Steamboat, simply an interest in reporting the news as it happens, and through their editorials, starting dialogue and a thought process among Steamboat's inhabitants about what is happening in their community.

We are very lucky to have a newspaper that has the quality of people working for it that it does. They are very talented, hardworking and dedicated to their community.

Lastly, we strongly encourage each of you to consider applying for one of the future openings on the Editorial Board (they have two new community members every four months). For a weekly investment of an hour (two hours some weeks), you will learn more about Steamboat than you thought possible. Probably most important, you will gain several new friends.

firstly, I meant in general, did I say I personally was interested? I was just pointing out that the Pilot should add some info about how to get involved at the bottom of the article.

And obviously, you don't know me whatsoever. You judge what you think I am from my beliefs, good for you. Maybe we both should do the editorial board, and have some friendly banter ;)

how does one go about getting involved in this?

corduroy: We ran numerous news in brief announcements seeking applications for the board in December. We've already filled the two slots for the current four-month term. We'll be looking again in April, if you're interested. All we ask is that applicants write a short letter detailing their interest and backgrounds. We then conduct in-person interviews.
