Explore Steamboat on new Web site

Site is an online guide to the Yampa Valley

— The Steamboat Pilot & Today this morning launched Exploresteamboat.com, a dynamic new online directory of business, news and events for Steamboat Springs and surrounding areas.

Exploresteamboat.com, gives Northwest Colorado residents and visitors a powerful local search engine that provides area-specific information not provided by search engines such as Google or Yahoo, said Dan Divens, internet services manager for the Steamboat Pilot & Today.

"We wanted to make a Web site for our area businesses that would be better than anything currently available to them on the Web in terms of exposure," Divens said.

More than 2,500 businesses are included on Exploresteamboat.com, with each free entry including a business address and phone number. Many business entries also include a photo and hours of operation.

The site also features news stories and event information.

Divens said business owners have a variety of buy-up options for expanding their presence on the site, including the opportunity to add additional photos, biographies, videos and other business-specific information. Divens also said business owners should log on to Exploresteamboat.com, find their business listing, and claim it by completing the site's free registration. Once claimed, business owners can make adjustments to their business profile.

Exploresteamboat.com is linked directly from the Steamboatpilot.com homepage. Links to Exploresteamboat.com can be found on every Steamboatpilot.com page. Divens also said links to local businesses featured on Exploresteamboat.com already are appearing in Google and Yahoo search results.

"We're so excited to bring this new and dynamic Web site to our readers," Steamboat Pilot & Today Publisher Bryna Larsen said. "Exploresteamboat.com is a true city guide, a one-stop location to find out everything you need or want to know about Steamboat.

"I think our business partners will be pleased with this interactive site," Larsen continued. "We've worked for months to gather information on thousands of companies in Steamboat so that if one of our readers is looking for store hours, restaurant reservation information or the like, they can simply go to Exploresteamboat.com and find the answer to their questions."

Divens said making the site as valuable for locals as it is for visitors was essential in the planning process.

"We expect locals to recognize the value of what Exploresteamboat.com provides," he said. "Aside from restaurants and hotels, you can also find contractors, auto shops - literally everything in the Yampa Valley."
