Steamboat Springs Steamboat tv18 advertising manager Mike Polucci has been promoted to the station's general manager.
The move was announced earlier this week by Suzanne Schlicht, general manager and director of strategic planning for WorldWest. WorldWest is the parent company of Steamboat tv18 and the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
"I could not be more pleased to have Mike at the helm as we move into our first year of live programming," Schlicht said.
Polucci, who is from Wanaque, N.J., graduated from Manhattan College in New York City with a degree in finance and a minor in business management. He began his career as a commodities trader on the New York Mercantile Exchange before running a capital markets desk for the French bank Credit Lyonnais Rouse in New York City.
Polucci moved to Steamboat Springs in 2004 and worked in sales at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. He became Steamboat tv18's advertising manager in October 2006.
"What attracted me to Steamboat tv18 was the potential that existed in this market," Polucci said. "I believe in our vision, and now we're busy developing the content that we think our viewers and advertisers will enjoy."
The station, available to Comcast cable subscribers who live within Steamboat Springs city limits, features the live "Steamboat Today" morning show program from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. The Friday show is rebroadcast Saturday and Sunday mornings. "Steamboat Today" is the only live local morning show, and includes interviews with a number of local personalities as well as live weather and ski reports.
Other Steamboat tv18 productions include "Yampa Valley Real Estate," "Explore Steamboat," "Savor Steamboat" and "Steamboat Dining Right."
The station also partners with RSN to broadcast a variety of outdoors and adventure sports programming.
"People want to have a local connection when they come on vacation, and TV, unlike any other medium, can evoke that connection," Polucci said. "I hope we can enhance those visitors' experiences through our broadcasts."
Steamboat tv18 staff includes Nate Pickens, executive director and director of technology; Erin Collins, executive producer; Mike Collins, host and producer; Andy Rossbach, advertising consultant; Harper Louden, host; and Eli Campbell, host.
