— Soroco High School's Levi Gonzales scored an overtime takedown victory Friday in the quarterfinals round of the Class 2A state high school wrestling championships at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

The takedown capped a come-from-behind victory by Gonzales, who scored two crucial last-minute takedown points in regulation to send the match against Wiggins' Dillon McCombs to overtime.

Gonzales was one of six Routt County wrestlers to progress to today's quarterfinal round. The others were Soroco's Justin Iacovetto and Dennis Morgan, Hayden's Mitch Doolin and Coy Letlow, and Steamboat's Houston Mader.

Iacovetto, Morgan, Doolin and Letlow each won their quarterfinal matches, automatically advancing them to tonight's semifinal round.

Hayden's Scott Armbruster was eliminated in the waning seconds of the first round of the consolation bracket earlier today. Steamboat's Mader lost his 140-pound Class 4A quarterfinal match to Northridge senior Easton Ramirez. Mader will attempt to fight his was back in tonight's second round of the consolation bracket.
