Lisa Rolan directed finances for Columbia, S.C.

The city of Steamboat Springs has hired Lisa Rolan, who has led the finance department of Columbia, S.C., as its new finance director.

Snow advisory in effect until 6 p.m. today

Steamboat Springs and the surrounding areas are under a snow and blowing snow advisory until 6 p.m. this evening. Between 5 and 10 inches of snow could fall in downtown Steamboat, although the storm's southwesterly flow could keep those totals to a minimum.

Lynx Aviation announces eight new regional destinations

Steamboat Springs is not one of eight new destinations for Frontier Airlines' regional subsidiary Lynx Aviation. The eight new cities to be serviced by regional Frontier flights are Aspen; Colorado Springs; Grand Junction; Durango; Bozeman, Mont.; Missoula, Mont.; Fargo, N.D.; and Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Cause confirmed for Rendezvous death

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg confirmed Wednesday the cause of death for Dennis Chin, who died Feb. 7 in the Rendezvous Saddle lodge at Steamboat Ski Area. Ryg confirmed Chin, a 62-year-old man from Mechanicsville, Va., died of heart failure as the result of an aneurysm.

Steamboat hockey team overcome by No. 2 Battle Mountain, 6-0

While Battle Mountain weathered its miscues, Steamboat Springs couldn't overcome its own. In the end, the state's second-ranked hockey team easily defeated the Sailors, 6-0.

Steamboat dropped as championship site

World Mountain Running Association to relocate event after resignation

Steamboat Springs has been dropped as the host site for the 2009 World Mountain Running Trophy. The World Mountain Running Association announced in a Feb. 1 news release that, "due to the resignation of the (Local Organizing Committee) chief, the attempt to stage the Trophy at this venue has been abandoned."
