Post Office reducing passport hours

Acting postmaster Mike Evans said Friday that effective today, passport hours at the downtown U.S. Post Office in Steamboat Springs, at Third Street and U.S. Highway 40, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Current passport hours, in which people can take passport photos and have passports processed, are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Evans said the slight reduction will give Post Office staff "a little more efficiency in the afternoon."

Historic designation applications due

Applications for designation to the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due in the Routt County Commissioners office by Tuesday. Applications will be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Board at its March 12 meeting. Call Dee Bolton at 879-0108 for applications or additional information.

Pentathlon registration offered at discount

City parks and recreation officials are accepting registrations for the 17th annual Steamboat Pentathlon, to take place March 1. Registration for the five-stage, multi-sport winter race is offered at a discount rate until Feb. 19. The race includes alpine skiing or snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and running, with standard and short courses. Enter a team or as an individual. Baby clothes needed at Pregnancy Resource Center

The Steamboat Springs Pregnancy Resource Center is in need of slightly used or new baby clothes and other used baby items for children up to age 2. Winter items are especially needed. Donations can be dropped off on Tuesdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 544 Oak St. Call 871-1307.
