Beth Boyd

Age: 27

Occupation: Massage therapist and yoga instructor

Place of birth: Warren, Mich.

Q. When did you move to Routt County and what brought you here?

A. I moved to Routt County in September of 2001. After seeing Ben Harper play at a free concert, I spent the night under the full moon up on Buff Pass. I woke up in a field of wild flowers and knew I needed to move here. I went to the (Strawberry Park) Hot Springs that morning and felt like I was in a fairy-tale land. Two months later I was living here.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

A. Traveling to India alone.

Q. Describe your morning routine.

A. I wake up around 7 a.m. Drink some warm water, take a shower and practice an hour of yoga.

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. Yes, "Siddhartha." It taught me that sometimes we find the best answer just by being quiet and listening.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. Mind your own business. Do your best, leave the rest.

Q. What three things would you want people to know about you?

A. I have good intentions. I love the sun. It's best to talk to me in the morning, because I start fading fast after 9 p.m.

Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?

A. I wanted to be a baker. My dad bought me a Cuisinart mixer and I would bake him lots of cheesecakes and pies.

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?

A. Swami Niranjananda, Swami Satyananda, George (W.) Bush, and the Dalai Lama. We would talk about how peace starts from within - to create world peace we first must find peace within ourselves.

Q. Do you collect anything?

A. Glass jars for juice and Vita Mineral Green Drinks.

Q. In the Meatloaf song, "I'll do anything for love, but I won't do that," what is that?

A. Suck on their toes.

Q. What was your first job?

A. I delivered the newspaper around my subdivision. I often would steal the family car to do my paper route - even though I was only 14 and could barely touch the pedals.

Q. Who is your favorite superhero? Why?

A. Cat Woman. She can do lots of flips and stuff. It looks like fun.

Q. Do you have a tattoo? If so, what of and why did you chose it?

A. No Tattoos. I would probably change my mind in a week as to what I want it to look like, or where I would want it placed on my body.

Q. Do you have any phobias?

A. Spiders crawling in my mouth while I am sleeping. Drowning. Touching public shower floors with my bare feet - ew.

Q. If you could go back in time, to what event or time period would you go?

A.Thailand, three years ago on the white sand beach and blazing sun - WOW!!

Q. What is your favorite thing to do in Routt County?

A. Dance with my "Family" of African dancers and drummers on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Depot Art Center.
