Young singers invited to join musical chorus
Colorado Mountain College invites interested young singers, ages 7 to 14, to join with the Emerald City Opera Youth Chorus in the "Carmina Burana" musical performance Jan. 16. Interested singers should attend rehearsals from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Steamboat Springs Middle School band room. Call 871-4883.
Chamber accepting applications for 2009
The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is accepting applications for 2009 summer event funding. The application deadline is Friday. For information and an application, call Kara Givnish at 875-7002.
Teen of the Month applications accepted
The Steamboat Springs Optimist Club is accepting applications for its Teen of the Month program. Area high school students and those interested can pick up applications from their school counselors, or by calling Rob MacCarthy at 871-7179. The program culminates in a May recognition dinner for all the recognized teens, and a scholarship for the Teen of the Year.
American Legion offering transport to VA services
The American Legion Post 44 is providing transportation to VA medical centers in Grand Junction and Denver, and to the VA Clinic in Craig. Library prize drawing under way for teens
Bud Werner Memorial Library is holding its annual "Sock It To Me" holiday stocking drawing for teens in grades six and higher. Win a stocking full of books, movies and more. There are two stockings to choose from- fantasy and drama. During December, teens will receive a ticket for the drawing every time they visit the library and check something out, like a book, movie or music CD. The drawing will be held Monday.

Kids can end their library fines through service
During December, local children and teens with overdue charges at Bud Werner Memorial Library can eliminate their fines while helping local families in need, by participating in the library's annual Food for Fines Program. For every can of food children bring to the library, the library will cancel $1 of overdue fines, up to $10. All food will be donated to the LIFT-UP of Routt County Food Bank.
