The Summit Public Radio Board voted yes Monday to bring an all Spanish-language radio station to Summit County.
After the holidays, Summit Public Radio and NRC Broadcasting, which owns KQSE, will complete a Memorandum of Understanding and develop technical and marketing plans.
KQSE will broadcast through Summit Public Radio's Baldy Electronics site. The groups hope to launch the station this spring.
This is the result of many years of lobbying by community groups such as FIRC and Global Summit.
Summit County only has a Spanish-language program, called Ritmo Latino, which broadcasts from 8 to 10 p.m. on Mondays.
