The Hayden girls basketball team got a quick start to its season-opening tournament Thursday, knocking off Grand Valley, 58-33, in the first round of the Meeker Tournament.
Holli Salazar led the team in scoring with 19 points. Rachel Koehler added 17 points in the first game of the weekend tournament. The win set the Tigers (1-0) up to play Rangely at 6:30 p.m. today in the tournament's second round.
