I have a notebook full of words that interest and intrigue me. Then, when I can't think of an adjective, I can pull out my notebook and come up with a really surprising word that will astonish my readers. Of course, the problem then becomes I can't find my notebook, and I start digging around through my desk drawers and find other things I've been looking for.

School Board forms wish list

Prioritization of sales tax leaves some requests in the cold

A textbook budget didn't make the cut this year. Neither did science labs or extra time for teacher planning. Terry Magoon: Dinner was great

I wish to thank the Steamboat community for a truly great Thanksgiving dinner at the new Community Center. It was another typical "Steamboat cares" affair, like the Steamboat I knew years ago.

Omar M. Campbell: Put annexation to vote

The "Local ballot looms in '09" article in the Nov. 9 Steamboat Pilot & Today identifies only two potential upcoming ballot issues - a property tax to fund affordable housing, and one for downtown development. The current recession and the hits we taxpayers recently have taken for approving the elaborate Bud Werner Memorial Library expansion, the new Soda Creek Elementary School, the cemetery, museum and open-space support, will surely dampen voting for a social engineering issue like affordable housing. Prediction: Like the recreation center ballot question, it will be defeated by at least a 2-to-1 margin.
