¤ Leisure Mountain Studio in Yampa hosts a reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday for new work by gallery regulars Nita Naugle, Susie Pattillo, Richard Villa, Carol Villa and Jeanne Willman. ¤ The Western Design Conference, a juried show featuring nationally recognized artisans and crafts makers, is Sept. 4 to 6 at Snow King Conference Center in Jackson, Wyo. The Western Design Conference is hosted by Teton Home and Living magazine with a mission of helping nurture the evolution of design in the American West. ¤ Photographer Jim Steinberg and author Susan J. Tweit host a book launch and signing for "Colorado Scenic Byways: Taking the Other Road" from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore. The two-volume set of photos taken from highways across the state features a forward by Gov. Bill Ritter and was an official gift to visiting governors at the Democratic National Convention. ¤ "Mito Logias," an exhibition of work by Jorge González-Mayagoitia, will be on display at Centennial Hall, the Steamboat Art Museum, the Depot Art Center and the Artists' Gallery of Steamboat through Sept. 19. Call 879-2060.

¤ "Art Unleashed," a fundraiser for the Routt County Humane Society, is under way at 12 downtown locations. Local artists decorated fiberglass dogs for the event. Their work will be on display in front of various businesses through the summer.
