Comcast offers Big Ten Network in Steamboat
Steamboat Springs Fans of Big Ten college football in Steamboat Springs are able for the first time to sign up to receive the Big Ten Network through local cable television provider Comcast.
A spokeswoman for Comcast confirmed that Tuesday was the first day BTN was available locally.
The Big Ten Network owns the broadcast rights to many of the Big Ten games in eight upper Midwestern states that haven't been picked up by ABC for ESPN. Games scheduled for Saturday are part of the service.
The Comcast spokeswoman said the Big Ten Network is available as part of her company's "Sports Tier" on channel 410. Comcast is offering the Sports Tier at no cost for the first six months.
In addition to the Big Ten Network, the package includes the NFL network, several FOX channels, including soccer, and a wide variety of college football games on both coasts.
Comcast customers can act on the offer by calling the local number, 879-7970, and responding to the automated prompts until they reach the appropriate customer service representative.
