Bust of Steamboat artists, sponsors needed

Organizers of The Bust of Steamboat are accepting sponsors and artists to create unique bra designs for a live auction during this year's event, from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Three Peaks Bar & Grill. To see past entries and auctions visit www.thebustofsteamboat.org. Sponsorships are a tax-deductible donation of $350 to the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project and include two tickets to the event. All the money raised stays in Routt and Moffat counties to help uninsured and underinsured women pay for mammograms, annual wellness exams and assist in breast cancer treatment costs. Bras will be on display in the community raising awareness during the month of October. For more information, call Debbie Curd at 871-7907.

VNA offers tips for preventing rabies

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is reminding residents that rabies is spread through an animal's saliva, usually from a bite or scratch. Protect yourself from rabies by keeping your pets' rabies vaccinations current, teaching children to stay away from wild or dead animals, contacting your veterinarian if your pet is bitten or scratched by a wild animal, and educating yourself about bat-proofing techniques if you have bats roosting in your house. For more information visit www.cdphe.state.co.us/ and search "rabies."

Parks department seeks survey responses

The city of Steamboat Springs' Department of Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services is seeking responses to its online survey, which will use community input to develop a master plan for Steamboat's parks, recreation facilities and programs.

Input from residents in unincorporated areas of Routt County and the RE-2 school district also is welcome. Participants will be randomly selected for a prize drawing at the end of August.

Visit www.rrcinfo.com/sbparkrec to take the survey.

LIFT-UP offers food assistance in county
