Consistently one of the most beautiful races in the area, the 10th annual Ski Haus Continental Divide Trail Run begins Sunday.

The run - which begins at 8 a.m. from the Fish Creek Falls parking lot - encompasses 16 miles of trail running.

Runners follow the Fish Creek trail before turning right onto the Mountain View Trail, where they'll end up at Long Lake. Runners then cross the Mountain View Trail ending up at the summit of Mount Werner before following trails down to the top of the gondola at Steamboat Ski Area.

After the race, competitors will receive a free gondola ride down to the bottom.

"It's very scenic," race director Greg Danziger said. "Every year, we hear people say this is the prettiest course they've run."

This year might be even more impressive, Danziger said. With the heavy winter, Danziger said the trails aren't as dry and dusty as they normally are. Plus, the presence of wildflowers along the trail will be in force like never before.

"We're ready to go," said Danziger, noting the race already has more than 50 runners registered. "It should be a good race."

Danziger said because of there is no day parking at the Fish Creek Falls parking lot, race organizers are asking people to park at the Knoll Parking Lot. Shuttles from the Knoll lot will begin taking runners up to the start at 7 a.m. Runners may also be dropped off at the start. The race will begin promptly at 8 a.m.

Although online registration ended Friday, people still can register at Ski Haus until 6 p.m. today.

Although Danziger discouraged day-of registration, he said they haven't turned people away.
