County Fair entry forms available online

Entry forms for Routt County Fair arena events are available at www.routtcountyfair.org. Early entry is strongly encouraged. Entries are being accepted for roping, open gymkhana, horse races, working ranch horse and ranch rodeo. Entries may be faxed to Jill Delay at 276-1023. Call Jill Delay at 276-3068.

Human Services hosts school supplies, food drives

The Routt County Department of Human Services is running a school supplies drive for the month of August, in honor of national Child Support Month. Take donations to the Department of Human Services, 135 Sixth St., in downtown Steamboat Springs.

The department also is sponsoring a food drive and is collecting nonperishable items and toiletries at its office and at any other county government office. Items will be given to the LIFT-UP of Routt County food bank. The food drive ends Aug. 27.

Event submissions for Visitors' Guide due Aug. 20

Dates for events happening from November 2008 through April 2009 must be submitted to the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association by Aug. 20 for inclusion in the Winter 2009 Visitors' Guide. E-mail Kara Givnish at kara@steamboatchamber.com, or fax her at 879-2543.

Historic registry applications due Aug. 22

Applications for designation on the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due to the Routt County Board of Commissioners' office in the Routt County Courthouse by Aug. 22. Call Dee Bolton at 879-0108 for more information.

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free nicotine patches and gum. Call the QuitLine at 800-QUITNOW or 784-8669. Pick up a free Tobacco-Free Quit Kit at the Steamboat VNA office, 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101, or in Craig at 745 Russell St.
