Three Fund Board members reappointed

Three members of the Education Fund Board were reappointed for an additional two years during the board's meeting Wednesday night.

Board President Tom Ptach and member Michael Loomis renewed their positions as community-at-large representatives, while Kristi Brown agreed to serve two more years on the Fund Board's capital commission committee.

Two other members - Jim Kurowski, chairman of the technology committee, and Harry Lambart, chairman of the education excellence committee - said they would like to meet with their committees before announcing their renewal plans at the next meeting.

The Fund Board is a group of community members and Steamboat Springs School Board representatives that disburses funds from the citywide half-cent sales tax for local educational uses. The tax is scheduled to end Dec. 31, 2009, but a ballot measure to renew the tax has been approved by the Steamboat Springs City Council and will be presented to voters in November. If approved, the tax will be extended until Dec. 31, 2019.

County closing some offices early next week

Routt County's motor vehicle office will be closed all day Monday and Tuesday because of ongoing renovations to the Routt County Courthouse.

The Routt County Clerk and Recorder's Office, including motor vehicle and recording, will be open for election business only from noon Monday through Tuesday's primary election to allow staff to work in the polling locations.
