— The Town Challenge Mountain Bike Series event scheduled for Wednesday was postponed because of inclement weather, and it has been rescheduled for next week.

The Dog Days of Summer Cross-Country race on Howelsen Hill now is planned for Aug. 13, said Gretchen Sehler, the series race director.

The start times will stay the same as originally planned, with the 6-and-younger class kicking things off with a 5:25 p.m. start. Then, a staggered start schedule will spread the field across the course, finishing with the professional class starting at 6 p.m.

Applications available for Democratic Convention

The Democratic National Convention Committee now is accepting applications to attend the convention's final day at Denver's Invesco Field, where Barack Obama will accept the party's nomination Aug. 28.

Although Routt County does not have any delegates attending the event, anyone can apply for credentials for the final day of the convention by visiting www.demconvention.com. Applicants are required to supply transportation, lodging plans and contact information before Tuesday. More than half of the 50,000 guests seats in the field will be allocated to Colorado residents, and those selected will be notified beginning Tuesday.

Applicants need not be members of the Democratic Party, and the credentials are free.
